On the afternoon of September 28, 2019, the opening ceremony of the Second Sino-Foreign Cooperative Program for Master of Nursing Science between Central South University and University of California, San Francisco was held at Room 714, Xiaoqian Building.

The ceremony was hosted by Associate Professor Guo Jia, Director of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Center of Xiangya Nursing School. Professor Jyu-Lin Chen and Professor James Allen Wiley from the Nursing School of UCSF, Professor Li Lezhi, Deputy Dean of Xiangya Nursing School, Xiao Jianglong, Director of the Graduate Management Office, teacher Chen Ling and 24 new students of the 2019 international nursing class attended the opening ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Guo Jia introduced the guests and welcomed them. At the same time, he hoped that the international students present could take advantage of the precious learning opportunities to improve their professional and English skills. Those who have the intention of studying abroad could familiarize themselves with the teaching atmosphere of foreign countries in advance.

Afterwards, Deputy Dean Li Lezhi encouraged the students to study hard, improve their learning efficiency, study English well, strive for opportunities to go abroad, see the outside world, increase their knowledge, come back after learning, never forget their original intention, and serve the motherland.

Professor Jyu-lin Chen also expressed her expectations for the students. She stressed that although students may face many difficulties in the future study, such as language barriers and unsuitable course patterns, they should help each other and make progress together. She hoped that after three years, we could make great breakthroughs and change, and meet a better version of ourselves.

Professor James Allen Wiley opened with a relaxed self-introduction, which was quite popular with many students. James said, “I hope we can hold more English corner activities in the future. I like to learn Chinese culture and communicate with you.”

Director Xiao Jianglong made a detailed introduction to the students from the aspects of school roll management, training plan and degree awarding, hoping that everyone could grasp this hard-won learning opportunity.

At last, Associate Professor Guo Jia gave detailed answers to the students about the course credit requirements, the use of textbooks, the dual tutor system and the related matters of going abroad.
