On the morning of September 29, 2020, the opening ceremony of the third “Sino foreign cooperative program of nursing master's degree between Central South University of China and University of California, San Francisco” was held at room 714, Xiaoqian building.
The ceremony was presided by Guo Jia, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University. 29 freshmen of the international nursing class of 2020 attended the opening ceremony. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the class opening ceremony took the form of a video conference with Professor Jyu-Lin Chen and Professor James Allen Wiley from the School of Nursing, University of California, San Francisco, USA.
Guo Jia first introduced the teachers and students attending the meeting. After Li Lezhi's speech, she encouraged the students to establish an overall view, work hard, embrace great wisdom with a big mind, take the development of the subject as their own responsibility, lay a solid foundation, study hard, and become a responsible and capable nursing person.
Then, Professor Jyu-Lin Chen welcomed the new students in the international class of grade 20. She said that in the past two years, the teaching mode of the international class has been continuously optimized and the teaching effect has also been continuously improved. For the new class of students, she hopes that everyone can continue to carry forward the spirit of Xiangya students who are not afraid of difficulties, work together and make progress together.
James Allen Wiley expressed regret that he couldn't meet with everyone in person due to the epidemic this year, but he also believed that the epidemic was both a challenge and an opportunity. He encouraged the students to face difficulties with a positive attitude, be optimistic, and learn happily, and expressed his expectation to meet with the students soon.
